The Course Creator’s MBA Podcast Episode #102: How Digital Product Creators Can Grow Their Email List Quickly and Earn Money

Transcript:

In this session, I'm going to walk you through how digital product creators can grow your e-mail list and earn money at the same time without paid ads. So the question I have for you is, are you interested in growing your e-mail list fast? If so, collaborating with others in your niche is one of the best ways.

To grow your e-mail list quickly with people who are your ideal customer, and here is how it works with a bundle, several contributors get together to offer a bundled digital product. Sometimes this bundle is offered for free, and individuals get access to your contribution in the bundle by simply going to your landing page.
And opting into your e-mail list to get access to their gift. An example of this type of bundle giveaway is something that I have participated in for years with my friend Kate Dostor with the back to business bundle.

Some bundle, like what we've been talking about with the HobbyScool learning boxes are paid bundles. In this case, the bundle is deeply discounted, so customers are saving a ton of money on all the premium digital products they're getting access to. So what happens is is they pay for the bundle and then you get an affiliate commission for people you refer to the bundle.

And then they sign up for the products in the bundle that they're interested in by going through your checkout process. So these are premium products that you typically charge for. And since they use your shopping cart to make that sign up in the bundle, right, they're essentially getting it for free when they sign up for your list, even though they paid for the overall bundle.

And that that's when you will get their e-mail growing your e-mail list. So not only are you, you know, getting your ideal, your perfect customers on your e-mail list, you're also getting affiliate commissions for people that you refer to the bundle and then they they purchased. So bundles are super fun to participate in and as you can see they can also be profitable.

The challenging part can be finding a bundle to participate in.

And here are some tips on how to find the perfect bundle for you and your audience. So the first thing that I would say to you is just simply ask around. If you're already part of groups on Facebook or LinkedIn for maybe bloggers or business owners in your niche, I just want you to simply ask. There might be some group members who know of an upcoming promotion and they'll be more than happy to point you in the right direction.

And don't be discouraged if somebody post about a bundle that's already over. Keep a list of any bundles and use them as opportunities because many creators out there offer them on a regular basis. That means they might be looking for some fresh round of contributors in just a few weeks

The other thing I would say is do your research before you get involved with the bundle. I want you to take some time and do a bit of research first. You want to make sure that the creator of the bundle and the contributors are worthy of your audience if it seems like there's something fishy going on, or if the contributors don't honor their deals.

Then do not sign up to participate in that bundle. And I want you to make sure that you are partnering with firms who know how to market digital products and the ones that can provide quality marketing material for their bundle contributors. So whoever is putting together the bundle, they're responsible for putting together the sales page.

They're responsible for making sure that they have quality products in that bundle. They're responsible for putting together the swipe files for all of the contributors so that when they go out and market the bundle, they have quality emails that are being sent out. They're also responsible for putting together all the promotional images. So you want to make sure that you have somebody or that you're partnering with somebody who really knows how to market digital products? OK, so once you have found a few bundles that you think would be perfect for your audience, I want you to connect with the creators behind the scenes. This might be a firm that you are, you know, basically you've researched and you're like, you know what? They do great job with their bundles. It might be just an entrepreneur who gets together.

A group of contributors and then maybe they do a free or paid bundle so you're going to follow them on Instagram, on LinkedIn, or Tick Tock or wherever they are. You might even want to subscribe to their e-mail list and comment on their blog post. Just really get a feel for who they are and the community they're trying to create.

And really engaging with them and their audience gives the creator a chance to get to know you too, right? So a lot of us out there, I will put myself in this category. We are very careful about who we ask to contribute, right? We want to make sure that it's a quality business, a quality product because there's a lot on the line here, right, because we don't want to be associated with somebody or a business owner who lacks integrity, right? What? Maybe somebody who backs away and says, you know what? I'm not going to offer my product when you've already promised it to people on the sales page and in your learning box or in your digital product bundle, product that you put together. You also don't want to be associated with somebody who puts together kind of, you know, shoddy products. You want to make sure you have premium products out there so when you're showing up in their community. and you bring value, you automatically set yourself apart from the crowd. So no longer are you a faceless contributor, but you're a business owner who cares about serving your mutual audience, right?

And these people are your peers, right? They're in your industry. You serve the same customers. So if you're looking for bundle firms, I know that there's some out there and I will put some of those links in the podcast episode so you can check them out. But the bottom line here is participating in bundles, whether they are the free bundles like what I've done with Kate with the back to business bundle, or paid bundles which are like what we do with Hobby school, they are one of the best ways to grow your audience and e-mail list.

And you can do it all without pay ads. In fact, you can even get paid.

I hope you enjoyed this episode again. I'll include all of the links below for you, and I hope you can participate in an industry bundle soon. Bye for now.
