How to Create a High-Converting Webinar to Sell Your Online Course

Out of all ways to sell your online course, webinars are still at the top of the list for a high-converting launch. A webinar can be positioned as a workshop, masterclass, or training, but the concept is the same. Provide valuable training, and at the end of the webinar, present the opportunity for your audience to take action by joining your program.

In this post, you’ll find some of the best strategies for creating a high-converting webinar for your next online course launch.

When to Use a Webinar to Sell Your Online Course

First, I wanted to mention when you should use a webinar to sell your online course. If you’re selling a mini-course, which is a course that may be priced anywhere from $27 to $49, this is typically sold via a sales page.

A subject matter course which is, by my definition, a moderate-priced course from $97 to under $500 can still be sold via a well-designed sales page. Any course priced at $500 or above is a great candidate to sell via webinars.

In addition, if you’re selling a monthly membership, this can be done through a sales page and can include a trial offer, or you can sell it through a webinar or some other type of sales funnel.

Now that we’ve clarified which online courses are great candidates to sell through a webinar sales funnel, here are the five strategies to follow when creating your high-converting webinar presentation:

Map Out Your Teaching Points

If you struggle with mapping out the content of your webinar, start by listing out the main talking points you want to cover. In general, you will want to focus on three main teaching points and expand your webinar slides from there.

The best webinars focus on serving and helping your audience achieve what you promised them by attending the webinar over strictly selling. Have you ever attended a webinar that was more than 50% sales pitch and fluff content? That’s not a great experience for the attendees. If you become known for selling rather than providing value and helping people, it will affect your webinar attendance in future training sessions.

Always Lead With Value

If you want your webinar to convert, it needs to deliver practical and actionable steps that get your ideal client thinking. That gives them a small taste of your expertise, knowledge, and training style.

Webinars are an excellent way to demonstrate that you know your stuff. In the short amount of time you have your audience’s attention, it’s your opportunity to prove that you’re the expert to help them.

Attractively Designed Slides

Any slides you create for your webinar should be simple, straightforward, and easy to follow. Beautiful slides are great but sometimes the simpler, the better. You don’t want the content and value to be overpowered by design. Canva has some great webinar slides that are easily customizable so be sure to search through their templates for ideas and inspiration.

Make Your Presentation Interactive to Increase Engagement

Throughout your webinar presentation, ask questions and poll your audience to keep their attention on your webinar content. Be sure to have slides throughout with questions and polls. This allows you to engage with your audience and understand their pain points and how you can help them.

Have them post their answers in the chat and acknowledge them by calling their name and letting them know that you can relate to what they’re saying.

Limit the Sales Pitch Time (but still sell!)

You have earned the right to offer your attendees the opportunity to join your course; however, pitching this opportunity should take place at the end of your webinar, generally in the last 15 minutes or so.

You can make the most of the last 15 minutes by positioning your course as the next step and utilizing the webinar by mentioning it throughout the presentation.

For example, “This is something I cover a lot inside the course, but the most important thing is _______.” This example gets them familiar with the course before the pitch comes and helps get them excited about it without being overly salesy.

Determine the Right Time to Host Your Live Webinar

If you are doing live webinars, when are the best days or times to host them? This will differ depending on your ideal audience and might require some testing for you to find the sweet spot.

Try different days and times and see which slot received more registrations or a higher percentage of attendees who attend live. This data will be super helpful for planning future webinars.

Offer Attendee Bonuses

Decide ahead of time to offer any webinar bonuses to encourage more people to sign up and attend. You could provide multiple bonuses - one for anyone who registers and something extra exclusive just for those who participate live and even stay until the end.

Offering attendee and purchaser bonuses will significantly increase your webinar registrations and online course sales.

Follow these tips and you’ll be sure to create a high-converting webinar to sell your online course.
